OUR STORY
Schlegel Guides and Outfitting LLC is run by the Schlegel family's 3rd and 4th generations. Our family's land was homesteaded here by Clyde Schlegel in the early 1900s. Clyde's son Wesley Schlegel and wife Mary, carried on the legacy. Year round, we run cattle operations located in the the outskirts of the small rural town of Burns, CO. The third generation is run by Rod & Jackie Schlegel along with Steve & Melinda Hammer; together they have over 100 years of experience in the high country packing and outfitting as well as ranching. They are passing their knowledge and skill down to the younger generations. Rod and Jackie have three children; Todd, Brittany and Traci. Son Todd does outfitting and ranching in the Sweetwater area and the girls are nearby with their families. Steve and Melinda also have three children. Son Taylor is a true outdoorsman; he guides hunters and helps with the packing, as well as he and his wife, Olivia help run the ranch. Taylor does most of the pack trips in the Flat Tops area. Both daughters, Marley and Miranda, help with the packing and ranching; both girls have extensive experience and knowledge with horses, which is a great help. Each and everyone of our family members is honest and truly cares about each and every client. We try our best to meet each and every need, desire and expectation that our clients have, along with providing an exciting, memorable, and successful experience.
Let us help you make your trip the best one yet!
TESTIMONIALS
I have hunted with Schlegel Outfitting for nearly 40 years and have enjoyed both success and failure in those years. But that is hunting. I have always been treated fairly and consistent over the years. No matter where you are placed (or camp) you have the possibility of seeing game. They check on you every couple of days or with today's cell phones you can call in and report your success. Very good group to be with.

Wow! It's that time of year again! I sure do miss you guys. What great memories and successful hunts over the years. There are some really big bucks up there. But they are not dumb for a reason. Also have harvested some really nice bulls with you guys. Be safe, hunt hard and take pictures. God bless
